Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Day

Today was my third day of preschool for this year. A month or so a go I was looking at my book orders and the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom was only a dollar. I thought it would be a fun way to introduce all of the letters to the older kids so today was all about coconut trees and letters! It was a lot of fun. The kids put the letters on the tree, we had coconut tree snacks, counted coconuts that fell off their trees and each student got to cut out their own tree and put the letters of their name on it....and of course they each took home their very own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book! Bathroom Before and After:

After more than a year, we finally completely finished (for now!) the downstairs bathroom! We had it 90% done last summer before the 24th of July but hadn't finished the counter and cabinets or the faucet. BEFORE:

AFTER:

One of these days I"ll get new flooring, cabinets, counters and frame the mirror, but for now it is 100% better than it was!!!

Oh, No...What has he learned now?

Today we went to Greenville (right outside Beaver) for Rickie's cousin, Brandon's mission farewell. A couple of miles from the church I look out the drivers window and see a couple of cows "doing their thing..."
"Oh, that's nice," I mutter, Rickie's thinking...I hope the kids don't notice. At that same time I hear Brecken quietly laughing in the back seat..."That cow just jumped on the other ones back." Ha, Ha, Ha.
Brigham, very seriously and to the point says, " No, Brecken. That is just what they do." (Oh, crap.....what has he learned at the farm now?) "When they are playing, they run around and jump on each other's back." Oh, thank goodness. By now Rickie and I are just trying not to laugh out loud, but the conversation went on much like that until we got to the church. Oh, please let them stay innocent!

Playing in the Rain

Brecken and Lainee had a great time looking at all the headstones in the cemetery after Baby Karson's graveside service. They didn't care about the rain!

Dancing, Dancing, Dancing...

Oh...what a relief to have dance over with for a few months!!! Between Brecken and Brigham I ran kids to dance class 3 different times a week and, lucky for me, I got to sit with Brigham during his class for the last 3 months or he would have a screaming fit and think I wasn't coming back for him. It wasn't fun.
(Brigham's Spring recital...see previous post)

Dance in Review:
Tuition for both kids: $735 for the year
Dance shoes: $210
($60 more than it should've been. Brecken had a real problem
with things getting lost or ruined.)
Costumes and Warm-Ups (Brecken): $225
Competition Fees and Tights: $80
Cost to get into Recitals (not Lagoon or anywhere else) $30
Being able to sit through 4 hrs of recitals and having dance be over: PRICELESS!
(at National at Lagoon)
Her and her little dance team...Whitney, Kelcie, Brecken and Maleea
The last recital...2 1/2 hours long!
Team Jazz Dance

Hip-Hop
Team Lyrical

What really is priceless is having Brecken absolutely love dance and want to continue for as long as she can. She also has a talent for it so I will continue to pay what I need to so she has something that she can work on and continue to love.

April Update?!

Easter: Cold, snowy and wet! We had the town egg hunt in the HS...
And our Friends Easter Party/Egg Hunt/Dinner
(even though the snow had melted)
inside the church.all of us...the Barneys, the Nielsons, the Hallows, the Chappells, the Mathies, the Anderson and the Dastrups and my little cousin Andy, had a great time!!

We got our eggs colored at about 9:00 Saturday night...and we still haven't taken our Easter sunday pics! (I've been waiting for flowers to bloom!)
Britain turned 4 months! So hard to believe that much time has passed since she's been born. We we went to Provo on the 26th for her appointment and she was just over 11 lbs! Yay!!!
Now that she's getting enough food she is always so happy! All you have to do is talk to her and she'll give you her best smile!Brigham's Dance Recital
Brigham's dance finally ended. Since January, either my mom or I has had to sit in class with him to keep him from having a major meltdown. It was real tiresome. Here is his Hip-Hop dance. You'd never know how he acted in class by the way he dances here! Ugh...that kid!

Animal Additions
My brother-in-laws goat had twins. They are sooo stinkin' cute! They have been a lot of fun to watch play. Here are the boys with my parents cows. They are very friendly...
Brigham is sporting his true cow-lick!
Bridger wasn't so sure! And we had to take a picture of him trying to get out before we could help him!
Roller Skating
For FHE the kids had been dying to go to the roller skating rink in Elsinore. We went and tried it...tried being the key word!
Preschool Graduation
I had my preschool graduation (and I decided to let Brig graduate with his class....) I wish I had made a bigger deal out of it for him but at that time I thought he would have a graduation with his other little preschool...he didn't, so I feel bad that I didn't do very much.

April was a very busy month, with wrapping things like dance and preschool up and all the unexpected things too, like emergency trips to Salt Lake to be with my sister through her trials and testimony builders. It was a month to take great care in nutrition and exercise and to also fall real hard off that same wagon. It was the month I finally received a calling in our ward...Achievement Day leader. I'm so excited for this calling and think it will be a lot of fun. Fortunately, Brecken and some of the other girls I know are excited too. In April, I spent 18 hours mother helping in Brecken's 2nd grade class and think the growth from the start of the year is unbelievable! The time has flown by and by the way things are going, its going to stay that way!
